Hubs?

I've only done one side. After assembly and a short test drive I got out to check the hub. It's almost to hot to touch. Now I think it has somethin to do with the selector because temp is hotter there and cool toward where the bearing is. The odd thing is the side I didn't work on was locked and had no problem (just noticed that)so when I noticed that I put it in free spin no problems on that side. Just fishing for ideas or something I've missed. Thanks.

1992 f250 4x4. I did ball joints and bearing reaplacrment. I've only done one side. After assembly and a short test drive I got out to check the hub. It's almost to hot to touch.
