2017 sway control
I have friends that own a 2015 and 2016 F250s and their trucks have a default to turn on sway control even when not towing. You have to manually turn it off each time you start your truck. When they turn it off, they get 3 MPG when turned off. I have a 2017 F250 and I can not get to my towing controls unless a trailer is connected.
My question, Do 2017 F250s utilize sway control even when not towing, as does the 2015 and 2016 F250s because I can't access my towing screens on my 2017 F250 if I am not connected to a trailer?
thanks,
John
However, if you want to try it for yourself - take a look in the Driver Assist menu, you should be able to turn it off there.
I went from 16.7 mpg to 20 mpg when not towing and from 7 mpg to 10 mpg when towing.
Something is definitely going on with the breaks when sway control is turned on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I also have 2 friends who get about 3 mpg better when towing and not towing as well. On has a 2015 F350 and the other has a 2016 F250. All seeing the same results.
Unfortunately, you have to go through these steps every time you start your truck...That's so frustrating!! Today's world, Ford thinks they have to drive for us, no one has personal accountability anymore...
Sorry, thinking out loud,
Ok, so turn on your truck and go to the towing icon on your dash cluster and hit OK
Scroll down the list to Trailer set up and hit OK again.
Trailer set up will appear, hit OK again;
a list will appear and "Sway Control" will have a check box, click OK again and the checkbox will disappear and sway control will be disabled.
Simple as that.... Enjoy a few more miles to the gallon ford truck owners.
Unfortunately you will have to get in the habit of doing this every time you start your truck.
PS This works on F150's as well. It's not just for Heavy Duty trucks.

No worries, I don't pretend to know it all.

Being an open minded sort, I'll give it a try myself and see what happens. It's not like it costs money to try it out!
