I have never used additives in anything in the past 35 years that amounted to anything except seafoam in a gas carb.

Seafoam only helped in two out of 10 cases. The other eight really had problems that only Parts could fix.

Snake oil is what most of it is to me.

Idk what's going on but I can't separate the tranny from the engine. I took a total of 6 bolts but it won't release the tranny.... what's going on

I'm pretty sure that's a ZF5 but I'll ask anyways, is it auto or manual?

If it's auto, you have to take the bolts off the flexplate to torque converter before you can take the transmission off.

If it's manual, there are only 6 bolts like you took off. Forgive me if you've already mentioned this, but you want to make sure to take the shift lever off the top of the transmission as well.

Another this is, make sure the transmission isn't getting stuck against the downpipe. You may want to loosen the downpipe to turbo clamp so there is some wiggle room between the bellhousing and pipe. Otherwise, it may be slightly seized up on the input shaft to clutch/flywheel or the bellhousing dowels. Some light tapping may get it loose.

Thank you.

It's a manual. Shift lever is off. This tranny is really stuck on the engine.....it's moving the whole engine as I slightly rise and lower the tranny....I don't understand here.... This does still have the duel mass fly wheel still installed... I'm wondering if there is something there I am missing??

No clue whats going on, but I can't get these two to separate....

Stuck on the alignment pins I bet. I had a granny once that was a bear to separate on a 302 in a Cougar Had to move it side to side about 15 minutes then place a wedge in once it moved a lil. I blame the road salt here for it.

I have had to use a large screw driver or a small pry bar to get them unstuck from the pins. one on left and one on right. When going back in be sure grease the pins.

Oh yea! I think they are seized in there. I'm not risking touching the fill fill port plug until I get new bolt extractors from Snap-On.

I typed an update yesterday, uploaded a bunch of photos and then my phone dies....

I should/better get everything back together today, inspecting brakes, rear axle.....my brakes have really been crappy, so I'm replacing some stuff.

Thumbs up WOW!

Hey everyone!

Here is an update....sorry for the delay I've been really busy...

So clutch is changed, installed new clutch slave cylinder.....omg that was a pain in the butt to bleed!!

I also reinspected my brakes, they have been very poor, installed new calipers in the front and rebuilt the rear drums, found many broken springs which would explain why my brakes were poor. I believe I need to replace the power pack next to get it 100%.

My transmission drain port is pretty stripped. So drained and service the tranny threw the shifter port. I do really get this heavy "gear roll" sound, I've read that some people dumped an extra quart of ATM fluid or added some Lucus oil stabilizer to help.....any input?

I do get this "wiff" of transmission/hydro fluid in the cab sometimes and as for the exhaust leaks, I believe I just need to save and replace the exhaust system, it's pretty rusty.

All in all everyone, my truck runs REALLY great! Runs VERY smooth! Oh, also installed the TS tuner chip. I'm very happy with my truck!

I'll post some photos in a little bit. Any comments would be great!

Thank you all for your help!

I love new parts

Friction plate off the DMF

The springs on the DMF were very loose abd had lots of play

Look where i am pointing, also take a closer look, the rivets are shaved off.

All clean!

New clutch!
