Digital Ign. Box and Diodes?

Hello to the forum. First post.

For years I ran the old type MSD 6a box. Now I'm about to install a Summit Racing box 850611 box. I also run an electric fan. While poking around for reviews of that box, I found mention that I needed to install diodes, or risk frying the micro processor of the box.

If that is so, can someone please tell me which diode to get, where to get it (them), and where I should install it/them? I say thank you in advance.

They are saying the electric fan motor fries the box? If so, you need a diode put in the line as near a possible to the fan motor itself. If you have relays or a controller that turns the fan on and off, the diode will help it last longer also. They are called "flyback diodes"

Something like Autozone 80111 from painless would work. It will have a band on one end, you put the band on the + wire going into the fan motor, and put the lead opposite the band on the negative lead of the fan motor.
