I have purchased an aluminum dogbox for my 2003 Supercrew and want to wire up the dog box cooling fan. My question is where would the best power source be to run my fan ? I need to be able to run the fan without the switch being in the on position.
I did a google search and the only "dog box cooling fan" I can find is actually one to put your pet in. Is that what this is? If so, how many watts or amps is the fan rated at? How are you going to use it? Will it be inside the cab or in the bed?
The fuse tap would work, but I think it would be easier to buy a inline fuse and run it right off the battery. That would avoid having to run through the cab somewhere. The other idea of using the trailer power would work also, but if you splice into it under the truck, it will be prone to corrosion unless you do a good job of weatherproofing.
I ended up attaching to a blade tap in the engine compartment fuse box and running a wire to the bed of my truck. I attached an in-line fuse. Thanks for the assistance.
