Finally a F150!

After many years of rangers, I have finally up graded to a F150, a 02' S-Crew 5.4L auto Lariat to be exact. I guess I'll be spending a bit more time here in the F150 forum.

I am totally new to this 5.4L motor, and type of truck, and I'm wondering what to look out for, if any thing.

I have a diablo delta chip from my 00 ranger that I have, and was thinking about putting it into this truck?

I've see bit and pieces about these motors popping plugs, and i wonder if a chip would cause this to happen?

Congrats on the new truck
It sounds like a nice one.
The 5.4 is good without many chronic problems.
Keep the oil changed regularly and it should be good for a long time.
I doubt the chip you have will work but the guys in the Computer Tuning forum will be able to answer that for you.
I'm not sure what causes the plugs to pop out and it's not every truck that does it. If it was mine I'd probably replace the plugs so I knew what I had and that they were torqued properly.

Thanks for the reply!

I guess I'll be spending more time here than in the ranger forums now!

I just sprung the chip Question on Ken in the computer forum....I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Sounds like this plug problem is just an issue of improper torque, than a design problem.

I will be trying/attemping a plug change shortly, but not before I try to come up with a DIY manual like haynes or something.

I'll keep everyone posted on what surfaces with my chip.

Good choice on your new truck.

Check out the second thread in this forum. Way more helpful than my Haynes manual.
