I suspect your body man is correct about the leak, unfortunately there's nothing that Ford will do for you out of warranty. Can I ask what it cost to have fixed?
I wonder if drilling a drain hole at the bottom of that panel could prevent this from happening?
most of the time in my garage cus i don't want it left out in the southern sun.
I had a feeling.
Concrete holds quite a bit of moisture. Vehicles that get stored long term in garages can suffer quite a bit of rocker rot too, certainly another contributing factor.
Before next deployment lay down some sort of barrier, such as plastic sheeting or plywood, and top it with some old carpet. Get a dehumidifier and run the drain hose outside. Should help going forward.
so i stopped by the body shop again and looked in to the potential damage on the drivers side. i found a access to the inside of the rocker put there by the factory. i stuck my finger in and was able to pull chips of rotted metal out. looks like its on both sides with the passenger side being the worst. i did not get a cost on the repair yet cus we are still figuring out what i want to do with it. i am thinking of just patching it up and doing a cab swap in the future. just seems like too much cutting welding and patching for it to be worth the time and money. what do you all think? i would do the swap myself as i have done a couple in the past. just not on something this new.
