dead on road

just got a call from a friend who was driving and his truck died going down the road like the key was shut off. just a total loss of power. at first i thought maybe a cps but he just called back and the wts light doesnt even come on before cranking. is this do to a pcm or are they even related.

No WTS light and the symptoms point to a CPS. Ask him if the tach moves when cranking. Also, make sure to get a dealer or Motorcraft CPS, NOT a parts store replacement.

Lots of things but most importantly the PCM and fuel filter canister heater. If the heater wire shorts inside the fuel bowl it blows fuse #22 and kills power to the PCM, thus no WTS light. IIRC it the second from top connector on drivers side on fuel bowl. Hard to remove because it's a spade type push on connector.
