In need of some serious help!

Is anyone around the north Mississippi area or know of any good mechanic's? I'm having problems with my truck again. My mechanic said its three glows plugs two injectors number 2 and number 8,he also said I need to replace all my injector cups and o-rings and that I have a blown head gasket. The things hes telling me and pricing parts dont add up to the 7,000+ price tag hes asking for. I would hate to dump that much money in this truck and it not fix all my issues. Sorry for such a long post but if anyone close would be willing to show me a thing or two about the rig I would be so appreciative.

Can you tell us what it was doing? And how does he know you need injector cups? Has he taken it apart? I would find a different shop, this guys doesn't seem to know what he is doing.

When its idling its pumping white smoke like a crop duster, and it's a little low on power from a take off. I don't think they dug into it just IDS software. I'm no mechanic at all so I'm not sure what to do,I know I can't afford that repair bill...

So it doesn't sound like a blown head gasket...Sounds more like a failed EGR cooler or blown injector

You need to tell us what model year it is and if you have any mods like an EGR delete.

What does the exhaust smell like?

+3 on injector cups being a highly questionable call (ie I would not trust this mechanic).

I agree w/ Tyler above!

Your not using this same shop are you ...............

Also, did you resolve the white smoke and surging from last November and January. Suggestions were that it might be an injector and to get a fuel pressure gauge.

Shes a 2006. Only mods I know of are egr delete and exhaust. My exhaust smells like raw diesel. No sir its a different shop, the local ford dealership recommended him, said hes supposed to be jam up. Im scared to keep throwing money at it if people can't diagnose it correctly,I've heard everything from a motor,to the most recent quote.

I used rev-x and that took care of the smoke and bucking, until a few weeks back in colorado it started running like crap and I haven't been able to drive it since. Sucks that its my only vehicle..

Did you ever install a fuel pressure gauge?

If fuel pressure is even marginal, I would replace all 4 injectors on the drivers side (all even injectors since it appears that #2 and #8 are bad).

Then replace the bad glow plugs and see what happens.

No sir, still no gauges. I couldn't justify buying gauges and scanners and the works until I actually get it running.

No egr delete question. I was just answering your question about mods done to the truck.

The truck is back at my house. Columbus Mississippi. I didn't realize gauges were so critical honestly.. I'm a young man, just getting into diesel trucks, this one is my first.
