1962 flareside headers

Hello

I have bought patriot headers #8422
for my y block V8. Problem with fitting.
So far I've only tried the driver's side
and when trying align with the head, the collector's section
is hitting the cross-member. I'm told the the manufacturer that
this is the correct header for my truck. I'm wondering if they used
different cross member for the unibody and the flareside.

On would think the unibody would not need thicker crossmember,
because the bed is incorporated but would use a different thicker one on the flareside. Has anyone had success
installing these without having to pay some one to modify them?

I had the same problem. I modified the collector with some persuasion from a hammer.

It's on a box ready to return. I was thinking of the hammer method also
but was afraid that if it's hitting the cross member, I would hear
the vibration as it's metal to metal.

How much hammering did you have to do? Did you also do the same for the other side?
Any pics you can share?

yes to both sides. Really didn't take much hammering. I have not finished the truck so cannot advise on hitting or vibration. I am out of town and do not have access to the pictures.

Ok, I will keep them and hammer them down a bit to make them fit. I did
call and spoke to Patriot and they had no idea about fitting issues. Of if the flareside vs the unibody had different cross members.

I'm guessing this will be a project for both.

Thanks
