Debadging

Best way to take the 6.7 powerstoke badging off doors? Heat gun and goof off?

Also want to take off he 4c4 stickers off the bed. Same process basically?

Thanks!

Badges would be a heat gun and some steady pressure. If that doesn't work, Hair dryer and fishing line would be your best shot. Goof Off/Goo Gone to remove any residue left behind. As for 4x4 decals, heat up and peel off with your finger nails.

If you get the two sided tape to the right temp, the residue will be non existent when the badge finally comes off.

Fishing line to "saw" them off, then use a stripping wheel to remove all the glue.

Dental floss works too.

Fishing line to saw along the badges and once off use adhesive remover. Or you could use and eraser wheel to speed up the process.

Nice Thread!

Question: are both of the Door Mounted 6.7L & PowerStroke badges "stuck" on?
Question: are any of the door badges "pinned" on?

I've removed the FX4 stickers on the bed (warm 'em w/ a heat gun)

Front emblem - two cheesy nuts
Back emblem - stuck on
Side emblems - clipped - just pull carefully
6.7 and powerstroke door emblem - stuck on

Stuck on - a LITTLE heat (you will melt the plastic), dental floss. Then 3m adhesive removing wheel to take off the leftovers.

For the Powerstrokes and 6.7 badge, I just used strong fish line to cut it through. This method will separate the emblem from the double sided tape which will still be on. I just used my fingers to rub the tape off and any residue left I used Meguiars rubbing compound to buff off by hand. Just make sure to use a side to side and up and down motion, dont pull towards you as it may break the emblems.

The side fender badges are held together by 4 clips if I remember, you pull slowly. On mine the metal clips separated from the plastic ears of the badge, when you noticed that pull carefully so you dont break the plastic ears.

The FX4 or 4x4 just use heat gun or hair dryer and start peeling.

I personally like the de baged and color matched look

What paint did you use on the chrome. I've painted chrome before and after a while it started to release. Thinking about using epoxy primer and 80 grit

I took the chrome parts off myself and had a body shop do the paint. They scuffed up the chrome first then used some adhesion promoter, then primer, then paint, then clear coat. Im not a fan of aftermarket paint jobs, since I dont think its ever as good as a factory paint job, but since these are not front facing like a grille or bumper I was ok with it. My front bumper came painted from factory and I had it clear bra immediately because I did not want paint chips.

The problem with painting over the chrome is it will peel. I am talking about the chrome itself from the plastic, not the paint from the chrome. If you scuff by hand you might be ok.
This has happened to mine, my dad's and a buddy now. We are ordering new parts and taking them to a chrome shop to have the chrome removed.
What I think is happening after playing around a bit. Is the heat from the friction using a rotating sander is magnified with the chrome. Then whatever make the chrome stick to the plastic is weakened. I did this lightly with a sander that had a scuff pad, then I peeled the chrome right off in chucks. Its wasn't that hard.
Just an FYI for those interested.
