That's indeed a handy document, but it would be nice if Ford included that info in the OM's Towing section.

Thanks,

I'm still trying to sort this out...

I've got no 12v from the truck to the trailer. Brake applied, TBC slider applied, truck in neutral or drive makes no difference, there has been no successful way to 'engage' the TRM module to send the 12v signal. I've tried tricking the module by hooking up a booster pack to the batteries on the trailer, then shutting off the booster pack so the truck would see a voltage drop/draw and enable the 12v, no luck. I've traced the wires, found the wires from the trailer plug to the trailer dist. box, to the batteries, everything shares voltages the same when i move the booster around and move the multimeter around, so the wiring all seems to be correct but I cannot get the truck to spit out 12v to charge!!

Any more ideas before cutting up the factory harness to run an upfitter switch with dedicated power from the battery?

Thanks everyone!

So just working with the trailer side of things, you have the same voltage at your batteries as the charge pin on your seven pin plug off the trailer? Just checking here as I suspect you already verified this.

Also that charge lead on the truck has to be fused somewhere. Fuse is good? Again just trying to check the obvious.

I would not jump to modifying simply because lots of folks have these trucks and complaints like this are really uncommon.

Found the stupid thing... hours later and I now have 13.5v out the tail end. This was what helped me;

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...f-truck-3.html

The Ford response on that says check F65 (Which in our SD owners manual is listed as; Trailer Tow Lighting Module). Well it clearly isn't only a 'lighting' module, replaced the 30A fuse with the one from the pass seat adjustments and voila 13.5v out the back.

BTW RV'ers and trailer people, this 30A fuse is a MINI square block style, ordered 5 from Ford dealer yesterday explained to him 7 times how they were smaller than square block style, still sent me the wrong ones. I will get Ford part # or parts store part # and update this thread, grab spares of these for sure!!!
