Add myself to this annoying squeak in that same area. If I press hard enough it will subside for a few minutes of quiet. Taking the console apart is on my to do list. A squeak is not normally an issue but this one takes it to another level of annoyance, I share your pain as well.
I thought I was alone with this. I too press hard enough for it to go away.
I have used the truck most of last week, approximately 300 miles now. The squeaks and creaks I had been experiencing are happily gone.
I did too many things to the assembly to know what if anything made the difference. Perhaps just removing and reinstalling was enough to make a difference is my point.
If I had to choose one thing I would guess the securing of the cup holder (6 fasteners) or sliding cup adapter/bin assembly (6 fasteners) to the reverse of assembly would be cause. I am completely speculating, if the assembler, assuming a human in this case was assigned the duty of securing these pieces with a pneumatic or electric bit driver did not torque parts evenly this could be causing torsional stress on the complete assembly. The bin/sliding cup adapter assembly secures to the entire perimeter. I secured mine in a cylinder head bolt type pattern repeating very slowly until all were secure.
Has anyone figured out where the noise is coming from? I think mine is in the plastic above the sliding door, or right below the fan speed buttons( that entire plastic area). If I push on it the rattle stops, so annoying. I got rid of the 150 for the moonroof rattle and now this.
My original post was a creak coming from under the driver's side of the console. The rectangular area where you can place a key fob. It came from under that.
Now it seems to have gone. I've had the truck in for the trans service and although I did not tell anyone about the squeek/creak it is now gone.
