Nit pick a squeak?

Okay so in the grand scheme of things this is a nit pick. But this squeak is driving me crazy.
It ain’t much but with the hard suspension on the 250 there is a constant movement in the cabin.
The squeak or that noise you get from two pieces of hard plastic just barely touching is the problem.
The location is in the center console (trans shift on the column so the console is all storage or beverage holder) on the left side. The rectangular side. It seems to be coming from under the console. I’m guessing at this because when I remove the tray and the rubber lower mat on that side and I press ‘down’ in the center of that rectangular storage area it stops. It’s like the bottom of this storage bin is just barely rubbing on something under it.

Is there? Is there something under it? Do I dare drill or cut a piece out to maybe apply some rubber caulking under there? Or is there a gaping space or horrors, wire that I could damage?

Yeah I’m nit picking but squeak, squeak, squeak….arrrrghhhh!!!!

Underneath the tray is the special spot for placing the smart key (if you have it) so the truck can start even if the key battery is dead. I wouldn't use caulking...maybe try a light coating of Vaseline where the pieces meet? Here's the page from the owner's manual:

You have an AC vent running under there that goes to the back vents, so it would be ill advised to drill through it. However, if it is driving you that crazy, you could take the console out and make sure everything underneath is secured properly, and or when you go to take it out may find a loose or missing bolt that holds it in as the culprit.

Let the dealer know and get them to fix it. That's why you have bumper to bumper warranty

Add myself to this annoying squeak in that same area. If I press hard enough it will subside for a few minutes of quiet. Taking the console apart is on my to do list. A squeak is not normally an issue but this one takes it to another level of annoyance, I share your pain as well.

I guess you didn't understand my explanation. I TOOK all those pads out and it is 'below' this.

I know this is a 150, bu it's the same interior and console, just go to the end and the guy points out the 6 bolts, 3 on each side that mount the console, they are under the side trim that clips on in the passenger side and has a screw on the drivers side.

I decided now is as good a time as any to do. There is not anything of mention under the console. I think my rattle is sourced from the panels attaching to one another. In one of the photos from the under side you can see fasteners around the perimeter. I am going to undo, add friction tape, cross fingers, etc. I am also taking the opportunity to fix the sticky media door if possible. I am guessing a trim would be required. I also removed and re-attached the camera input at rear of head unit, per another thread about poor resolution.
Nobody is home.

Key transmitter/receiver

This assembly fastened to upper visual piece. Source of noise? Will find out.

I feel your pain. There was squeak in my passenger seat when no one was in it. Was driving me a bit nutty. It took two separate service appointments to fix it.

Same problem in my Platinum. I noticed if I push on the lower left section just above the Media Compartment it goes away for away.

My 16 had this same noise dealer couldn't get it, I know this sounds crazy but I took a piece of cardboard folded up and wedged it between the bottom of dash area and the console and never heard it again. Cardboard was kinda out of sight

I finished looking into the squeak/clicking/rattle noise. The manner in which the console is assembled is likely the cause. The aluminium bits you see in first photo are two separate pieces tightly pressed together, they have direct contact with each other. Think back to the day when you installed an aftermarket speaker, the grill had metal tabs you would bend to secure to speaker. There are about 6-8 of these tabs, other areas are glue bonded, and the metal itself is formed and bent around the plastic chassis.

With the console out as I would flex it you could reproduce the creaks and squeaks easily felt at the metal contact areas. I added extra adhesive to various sections. I will not know if anything I have done will make a difference until I drive it, probably not until this weekend. I think the most important change I made was to insulate the upper console with rubber orings at all contact areas with the base of console. This in practice anyway may lesson vibrations entering the console.

Media door fixed, closes correctly. I added a piece of soda bottle to the piece in photos. I understand, under warranty, however I will not let someone tear my dash apart. I trust myself and staff only.

Forgot to mention, fiddling with the camera connection at rear of head unit made no difference for me. Images still grainy and horrible.

Diet soda bottle...hard to see but it is in there.Shiny stuff is mineral oil, it made no difference.

I have a noise only when it is above 75deg outside on the pass side of my center console. I think I figured it out. Going to dig around this weekend.
