Not enough Boost!
My Boost doesn't go above 13psi. It's like the gauge hits a hard stop just past the 10psi mark.
I was hauling my Camper and Boat and had a tough time getting home last weekend. About 55mph was top speed and normally this truck can do anything I want it to. I had to pull off the highway and take some county roads home or I would have held up traffic pretty bad.
The truck has lost MPG and spits a lot more black smoke than it used to.
I am Spartan Tuned and deleted, running the 210 Tow tune and CAI.
After some research it seemed logical that it was the EBP sensor, so I replaced that last night. No change. Now I'm stuck. Any ideas before I take it to a shop?
I scan the engine, no codes! Searching the internet hasn't come up with an ah ha moment yet. The truck runs pretty good empty so it is hard to tell that the boost is not building properly unless it is loaded.
Thanks
Joe
I replaced the EBP sensor and the tube, and to be honest, I was disapointed when I took them off, they looked good and nothing was in the tube. I blew through it.
I will check the MAP sensor, once I find out where it is bolted on! Is that cleaned with a Electrical contact cleaner?
That EBP sensor was a pain to get to, my arm is torn up today from it.
I replaced the EBP sensor, bought a new MAP sensor, was about to put it on and I decided to crawl around the engine bay.
Looked under the truck and the hose connections were fine until...I noticed some dripping on one end of the intercooler hose, the side closest to the radiator.
The truck was cold so I reached up and grabbed the hose, I could see that there was a split in the top of it! Had I not squeezed that thing I never could have seen it. The tear was on the top side and nearly impossible to get an eye on.
Went to the stealership, $100 later have a new hose and the truck runs great again!
The small oil drip got my attention. This is the bottom side of the hose that looks just fine
Here is what I had after removing it. About a 2" tear on that thing!
