Took my ride into the dealer today, the transfer case is leaking oil. Parts are 7 days away for the repair. They tell me it's okay to drive like that. Anyone else having this issue, and if so how was the fix?
There's another member on here that has the rear seal of his transfer case leaking. Last I read he'd had it back to the dealer a few times and they can't get it fixed.
I wouldn't drive it for the simple fact that youll have oil all over underneath ( unless you don't care theres oil splattered all over). if they don't fix it right the second time I would just do it yourself. could be a bur on the slip yoke, seal wasn't lubed or it was installed crooked
Yup mine is a long bed. Truck is at dealer now, they gave me a '16 6.7 with 5th wheel prep, I am glad I bought my truck with out the package, or the hd package, I can tell the ride difference. If your dealer replaces your seal take the truck out foe about 30 minutes at highway speed and see if it leaks again, mine wouldnt show a leak till I did tjat.
Hello...new to forum and unfortunately I have the same transfer case leak that Melansk had. Truck has been at the dealer for a week now...called today to get an update and it hasn't been looked at yet. Next call is to the service manager to see what is going on and to get a timeline for repairs.
Melansk - what was the fix for your transfer case? Was it just the seal? Any help or feedback is appreciated.

Thanks for the quick reply, but I'm not a huge fan of either of those options. Lol.
I spoke to the service manager and they are planning to replace the rear seal on the transfer case tomorrow. Hopefully that fixes it and it is not an ongoing problem.

Haha for sure. This wasn't a decision taken lightly but with the plethora of other problems i have had i couldnt trust my truck anymore. I gave Ford an opportunity to make it right with me, theu choose not to. So i traded for the pictured Denali and bobs your uncle. To be honest i would have much rather stayed with my Platinum. Best of luck with your repairs.

That is a sweet looking GMC. It would be nice to see a write up comparing it to the Super Duty. I hear the l5p is a beast!
