Noticed a bend/ recess on both front faces of my trailering hitch and it freaked me out! I have a fifth wheel so i do not pay attention to the trailer hitch much, and i just got the truck. I thought, "Great, hitch is bent from transport!". Whats up with that? Normal or damaged?

 

The "dimple" shown is on the left side of the hitch's cross-tube. There should also be one on the right side. My truck's receiver also has both.

The rectangular-section cross-tubes are formed (bent) to fit around the spare tire. I expect these dimples are a normal result of the forming process.

Glad you posted this. I thought there was a problem with my hitch. I was going to ask my dealer about my "bent" hitch.
