Changing High Pressure Oil Lines - what to expect
Hello,
I will be changing my high pressure oil lines soon. What can be expected on the first start-up? Smokey? Long cranking? Is it necessary to pre-fill the hoses before install?
Thanks

Last line I had to change was on the side of the road, so no crazy tricks. Just get it in. Have some rags to soak up the excess. Top of the res. Expect some air in the system with an extended crank time. Only crank for short periods with adequate time for the starter to cool.
I would go OEM lines as well. I blew a line on the way to a job, replaced with some NAPA lines, and they blew a month later. They're not rated for the heat+pressure involved in the system.
Riffraff is were I went for the lines. They're pricey but totally worth it.

I too would recommend OEM, I've had one made on my truck by a local hydraulic store and even though the line was rated at 5,000 PSI for high temp hydraulic use it still managed to burst.
