If I were buying a diesel, it would be a Cummins.
Not even a question.
No offence Have you ever owned a cummins diesel I have had a 1998,02,another 02,05,07,09 and a 2012 all great trucks other than the fact that everything falls apart around them every one of them needed replacement of the transmission other than 07,09,12 Also completely rebuild of front end every 20 to 30,000Kms The power delivery is very slow lots of turbo lag even at highway speed's when you go to pass there is a big delay compared to all of the power strokes that I've had
as much as I love the sound of a cummins and the pull of a freight train once rolling I will never own another one again
You ever own a 6.0?
I think Ram has come a LONG way.
I wouldn't hesitate.
Yes a have had a 88,89,94,2000 7.3 and a 2004,07 6.0 no problems and a 2008 6.4 (lots of problems non with the motor though) and a 2011,14,17 6.7 all great the 12 dodge I had was no better power wise then the 09 I had and truck was still falling apart
Not trying to start a pissing match over this it's just my 1st hand experience on owning these trucks we used them mostly for work 1/2 of them with Plow's the rest of them towing relatively heavy loads for the size of the trucks and to me the fords just stayed together better and I always got better resale on the fords all the dodges had rust behind the front fender and over the back fenders we kepted most of them to around 160,000kms some only to 100,000 but no less
He lost me when he said "it's ok that these trucks are $70k, because wages have gone up to match" Wage growth over the past ten years has been flat trending down, how can I take you seriously on truck reviews
This guy is a member of this forum, goes by the name "IronCobra." I appreciate some of the time he has taken to go to dealerships and look at trucks and sometimes drive them.
BUT...
He owns a 2016 Ford F-450, so he's a bit biased. He also over-promotes his youtube channel a bit, I think.
My opinion is this: you can't really go wrong with any of the current American HD pickups. It comes down to your preference of styling, interior, available features, tow/haul ratings, and a few key design differences.
To T Diesel, I agree the 6.0L Ford / Navistar engine had a lot of problems. Most people had problems with them. Some didn't. But we are punishing Ford for Navistar's sin. Ford did away with them, and developed the 6.7L. Aside from a few first year problems, it has been a great engine. Excellent reliability track record. One of the most powerful diesels on the market.
