So I have all of my dizzy parts now, but I think Napa may have failed me on the replacement. The old one has a threaded connector of the vac advance, while the new is a straight fitting. Other than that, they two seem to be identical. I can't read the whole P/N off of the reman dizzy, but it does have an M at the end, where my original has an A. If it's a no go, does anyone have a Napa part number for the reman?

Thanks!

Distributor

I'm just throwing my 2 cents worth in here. My personal opinion of the rebuilt (Mexico) and new (China) stock replacement distributors is low indeed. First they don't even try to set the advance curve for any specific engine. Every one I ever checked had the distributor gear on wrong. Half of them didn't have the correct end play. As far as the PN goes FE distributor housings are all the same so they don't try to sort them out. The vacuum can is the replacement type and is adjustable. If your old can is working you can put it on the new distributor to keep from re-plumbing the vacuum line. Here is a page out of the Ford Performance catalog that's worth reading. The dimensions on an FE are 3.071 to 3.080 for the gear location and .025 to.032 endplay. I have gotten to the point with distributors, if I need a new one. I buy an NOS Motorcraft for the engine series I'm fooling with and recurve it for the specific engine it's going in.

To make the vacuum connection, cut off the flare fitting and use rubber hose to connect.

CJ06SLT - If you do not want your -A distributor when all is said and done - I would be willing to give you some cash for it. Just send me a PM or reply here.

Thanks
Chad

Here's a quick update:

After a nice trip up to Canada for the last week, I got home and completed the install of the new dizzy, Pertronix and the new coil. Picked up a timing light and got the timing set and this puppy runs sweet! Fires up immediately and runs smooth. Next up is a test drive.

Thanks all for your help!

Chad, Ii'll send you a PM once I get the new vac advance installed. I'm still running the old one. Just need to figure a nice re-plumbing system.
