Can someone identify this part/sensor?

Need help with identifying this part/sensor that was broken off by the PO. It screws into the lower intake on my '85 F150 302FI. You can see the large white plug that plugged into it. There is another one just forward of it that you can barely see in the pic. What is its purpose and is it needed?

Get a Haynes manual and use the wiring chart to ID the sensor by wire color. If I had mine readily available, I'd look it up for you.

Is that the air charge tempreture sensor?

The ACT sensor should have a yellow/red and blk/wht wire. I think that is the Engine temp switch, which should have a Lt. green/yellow and black/white wire. That wire looks dark green though, and the only things I see right away with a dark green wire are the TPS and MAP sensors. They have 3 wires though, not 2.

how about a aint knock sensor?

Gofast you just may be on to the problem. From reading on Google it reads the temp of the incoming air and the computer adjusts the fuel mixture accordingly. Thanks for the input.
