93 e40d shifting problems
I have a 93 f350 with the 7.3 turbo and the e40d transmission. The transmission when put in drive starts out in 3rd. Second only works when selector is in 2nd. Don't have first or 4th. Reverse works, just no first and forth and the od off light doesn't come on when you push that button. Fluids are good and at proper level. Checked all fuses and relays all seem to be good any ideas on what the problem is?

The problem is that the trans computer isn't getting power. There is a power relay the feeds it, when it fails you only get fourth gear in drive, and second with the selector in the 2 position.
Why do you think it's in third gear, not fourth?

It might be 4th too me it doesn't seem like a big difference between gears when going down the road when I manually shift the truck. I'll have to see if I'm getting power to the relay because the fuse looks good and I switched the relays out with the horn relay and no change
