How did your fix go? I'm dealing with something similar on my 04 Navigator. Conducted a vacuum test (brake booster line) and noticed a lot of a smoke coming from the IAC motor housing. Is that normal? I feel like that should not be the case..
Correct, I did a smoke test to find a vacuum leak. Time to replace the IAC with a Motorcraft one. Thanks for your input.
I ended up replacing both the vacuum line (tiny, thin line in the upper left corner looking down at the engine bay) and I replaced the sensor I linked above.
Didn't need to replace the control valve, that wasn't the problem... sensor was most likely the issue, but to be safe I replaced that line I linked above. Car runs absolutely perfect with ZERO idle or shifting issues.

I hope this helps.
Thanks for the update, I really appreciate it. My problem just got really weird and I'm gonna try few things before starting a new thread. Replaced couple elbows, and IAC... Had 171 and 174 MIL, and now after reset I keep getting a P0308 and a popping noise that seems to be coming from the rear driver side by the fuel door/Tail gate area at idle with the same symptoms as before... (Will record it and start new thread).
