F250 idles fine, pressing gas gets no response
I've got a 2000 F250 diesel 2 wheel drive. Was driving fine until all of a sudden turned the truck on and the engine started fine, and idles fine, but when I press the gas pedal, nothing happens. It will idle forward in drive, and idle backward in reverse. When I put it in drive, it seems to engage fine, I just get no response when I press the gas. Any ideas what this could be?

Welcome to FTE. Your accelerator pedal is electronic. Sounds like the sensor on the pedal is acting up or has gone out on you. First off, check all your fuses with a test light to make sure it's not something that simple.
It seems like the 2000 model had a IVS (idle validation switch) that could be replaced without replacing the entire pedal assembly. Finding someone with a good scanner that can monitor live data will tell you for sure.

2007 f250 diesel no response from fuel pedal; idles but no response from pedal!
2007 w/ 91,000 miles FX4 4x4 Super Crew Diesel.
Will run fine for a couple of days just fine and then will randomly decide to not respond when I press the pedal. Nothing. Nadda. No rpm response, but will idle. Will occasionally idle then slowly decrease rpms until it dies out. Eventually it will respond. If I mash the pedal...nothing. Pump the pedal...nothing. RPM's at 1000 or less. Then all of a sudden VROMMMMM it responds and is good as new.
I brought it to the dealer and after 3 days they say it is throwing no codes. they say they will have to put some miles on it and replicate the problem. I am at wits end!!
Can anyone help?
Thanks,
Paul

To the OP, Check fuse 19 inside the cab. Should be 10 amp. Part of your instrument cluster and the overhead console if u have should be dead as well if it is blown.
If it is blown, it was probably caused by the OD cancel switch wire rubbing inside the steering column. There are couple of writeups on what to check if that is the case.

Thanks for the info. My dealer is driving me nuts! I pulled in while I was experiencing the problem and tried to get him to check it out then and there. He said they would check it out. what happened is that they let it sit there and when they tried to start it they had no problems. How did they figue out that it was the pedal sensor?

You certainly do need a new dealer, or a reputable shop that isn't a dealer. It is ridiculous that they only look for codes. Seriously, they have it for 3 days and probably never even put it in a service bay. After ignoring it for 2 days they probably went out to where it was parked, hooked up the code reader, found no codes and called you to tell you that they need to drive it to replicate the problem. I've seen this at other Ford dealers over the years and it is just poor customer service because they figure they have you by the b@lls and you won't go anywhere else. You need to find a shop that doesn't rely on code readers.
