I've swapped the disc brake front end of a '78 under my '67 F100. I also took the power steering gearbox for the swap as well. The '78 was just a chassis sitting out in a field for who knows how long, so I'm skeptical about running the gearbox. Are there any places that rebuild these, or do I need to look in to getting a new/reman unit? I've tried all the local parts stores and no one seems to be able to get me a reman unit. I have to order online, then ship my old one in for a core and it'll only have a 1 year warranty. I can get a brand new one for almost $600.00 that has a lifetime warranty, but ouch that seems steep.
Are there any other options besides going through salvage yards and hoping I get a better one than I already have?
Redhead, or Oreillys. Oreillys sells rebuilt units done by the same place as Napa's, but they are done better. I installed about 15 steering gears last year, three from Napa that wound up being warrantied within a month. None of the Oreillys ones had any issues.

I have a rebuilt Saginaw PS gearbox I bought though O'Reilly Auto Parts (Master Pro part number 27-7504). --for whatever reason, I could not buy this PS gearbox from my local O'Reilly's store or my local NAPA store. I had to purchase it online and have it shipped to my residence.
It's going on 3 years now since I installed it and I haven't had any leaks. I figure if it ever does start leaking, I'll send it to Redhead for them to give it the once over.

This is the same problem I have. My brother works for O'Reilly and he said the same thing. Order online and ship to my home.
