So awhile back I posted a thread about liquid metal on headers . What a waste of time. so I bought some new one from summit racing. My question is when I but the new ones on do I use anti seize on the threads of the bolts?
Yes .... Solid yes on this.... I used permetex copper anti-seize .... Also do yourself a favor and grab some quality header gaskets... I used RemFlex, they are collapsible aluminum crush gaskets.... I did have to re torque once, but no leaks after that..............which is remarkable for an FE engine...
Chances are they are thin cheepo gaskets, thats what came with my Flowtechs, I bit the bullet on a set of RemFlex after reading lots about the different options... Im no expert either, yours may seal just fine... How are your mating surfaces, obviously your headers are new, so that's a non issue, how bout the heads at the exhaust ports ? if you got them nice and pretty with a grinding brush or whatever and they are smooth, even and no pitting, than you may be ok.... If your dealing with pitting, old gasket material burned into the cast iron, then you may want a thicker crush gasket, but also not the end of the world if you want to try out the included gaskets, re-torque after a few HOT runs on the motor and see how they seal..... Good luck...
