Bed compatibility

This is the first F150 I've owned. I'm in the market for a new bed for my 2006 xl 5.6' bed. I found one that looks to be a 1999. The body style appears to be the same but the tail lights are different. Can anyone please tell me if it will fit without modifications? I'm sure that there is a website with that info but I can't find it.
Thank You,
Ron

From what I understand, the 1999 F150 (10th generation) and 2006 F150 (11th generation) were different in many ways. I believe the F150 'grew' in size for the 11th generation, meaning the '99 bed would be much smaller than your '06's bed, so that alone would probably mean the '99 bed certainly will not fit. The body styles were also very different.

I would keep searching for a matching bed. I would look for a 2004-2014 F150 bed, as they were basically the same in terms of dimensions.

Good luck!

the beds bolt to the frame with 6 or 8 bolts from the top , down thru the floor.. Crawl inside the bed and measure the distance between the bolts, and how close the first bolt is to the bed wall................ beds can LOOK bigger, but they all hold a 48 inch wide piece of plywood between the fenders, by design.

Do you have a Super Crew? If so, the older bed is not the right size. The Super Crew, the 5½ ft bed, has different taillights. I think the bed you're looking at is the regular 6 or 8 ft bed. If it is, it is not a bolt on for your later truck. Also, the angle on the front edge of the early truck by the cab is different. They are a gentle sweeping curve, the '04-08 bed is a sharp turn. Might cause interference at the cab.
