Is the bed for a 1979 F150 supercab the same as a short bed or was the bed made specifically for trucks with the supercab?
Also, what beds will fit my truck? I have a really bad rust problem around the fenders and a few holes in the bed so I thought it might be best to replace rather than have someone weld on some patch panels.
If I am correct, a short bed is a short bed etc for a truck of that year. I would wait for more replies though. On newer trucks, each bed is a little different.
I would guess you could use one from 73-79. This is a popular topic and there are several people in here who have done it.
I have heard everything from repair work, fiberglass, and complete replacement - either reproduction or stock.
They also know where you can get a new steel bed, so I would wait for their replies and they have great advice.
Now if you want a REAL truck bed, check out my gallery. It's durable and rust-proof!
any shortbed from 73 - 79 will fit. One problem though, The fuel door from 77-79 is different from 73-76 beds. ie, if you put a 73 bed on a 78 truck, you would have to mess with the tube from the filler door to the tank.
