Hey all, I have a question. I have a 2004 F250 superduty 4door longbed 6" Fab tech lift running 31.5's(35") tires, with the V10. I don't believe the gears were changed, I believe from the tag on rear diff it's still running 3.73.When I bought it, the overhead console MPG said 14.1 ever since then it went down and now I can never get it above 8.0MPg. Did the previous owner do some trickery to get it to read that high?
It all depends on type of driving.
I got 14 mpg with my '99 f350 v10 last fall on the secondary hiway, 60 mph cruising back-n-forth 2 hr each way to/from train station picking up/taking back family for Thanksgiving. If you do stop-n-go city it will be less. Interstate, driving 80mph different again. If you always pin the gas pedal to the floor it will be even worse.
It is an 8K lb brick, for hauling or towing stuff.
It's easy to trick the console....just reset it while you're coasting, drive slowly into your driveway, and shut the engine off. It will go back down quickly though to normal once you start driving.
Yep, just reset it before you go on one of those long interstate drives and drive like there's an egg on the pedal. Your mileage will reflect what you average after the reset. It will creep back down as you go back to your normal stop-n-go routine.

I'm not sure what tires were sent with your truck from the factory, but with 35's your speedo is off around 5% to 10%. To accurately calculate your mpgs you need to know how far you are actually traveling vs the odometer.
