Gas mileage drop

I have an 03 Excursion 4X4 with the V-10. For the first few months after I got the truck in March it was consistently getting 11+ mpg in town. Then it dropped to 10+. Same driving, same gas station. I dropped a new filter in it but it has never come back up. Has anyone else ever seen this? Is there something I should look for? Or, is this normal?

Since you didn't say how you firgured your mileage, try calculating MPG by hand. Do this over a few weeks of refueling. You may find the results to be closer and will reflect driving habits.
When I had my V10 I rotuinely got 11-12 MPG. If I played hard it would drop to 10 MPG.

I'm going by the overhead console which has actually been very close to hand calculated in the past. Overhead used to show about 11.5, now its around 10.5. We drive the thing as though gas was $5 a gallon. (very light on the gas pedal).

How many miles on it? Have you changed the fuel filter?

23,000 miles and I haven't changed the fuel filter. Would a dirty fuel filter cause a drop in mileage?

Maybe winterized fuel is beginning to hit the gas stations??
