What to do with the engine and tranny from this 51 F6

Sorry to hear that you are not planning to keep this a running truck. Being able to turn the fan by hand actually doesn't tell you anything as in most cases the belt will slip and all you are turning is the fan and not the engine. To check the engine put a socket on the crank pulley bolt and with a breaker bar and try turning, or you could pull the starter and try turning the flywheel.. Other options but not ordinarily recommended would be putting power to the starter or getting the truck on a hard surface and pull it while in gear to see if it will turn.

Having the engine turn over Is a really good sign. I was told by a person more knowledgeable than myself that if you can turn it over you can get it running. How go it will is another thing. So far every flathead I've had turn over I've gotten to run. If they sit a long time the rings seem to contract allowing for very low compression and won't start using 6 volts. Sometimes boosting with a 12 volt battery will spin them fast enough to overcome the weak compression, sometimes you have to pull down the road and pop the clutch.
But before doing any of the above check and change fluids. If your lucky you might have a running flattie, worth a lot more, IMO, than an engine that "ran when parked".

And still, the folks in the know what to send the block out for magnaflux. If it werent so dusty and dried out, I might work to get it running. But for a couple of hundred more bucks it could seem like chasing rainbows...or something.
At least it may not be a boat anchor. I will check in with my rodder aquaintance as even that will take a bit of effort to tow the truck to his shop.
Like has been said here, it may be better to leave it in the truck but I can picture some hoolums comimg in the night and stealing it, being this is the town of American Graffitti and all...
