New rims - what size?
#18
I have a 2005 F350 Superduty crewcab diesel 4x4. Somehow I took a chunk out of one of my rear rims, so I need a new one. I can't find an exact match, so I'm looking for a set of four.
My tires are 35x12.5x18 (factory says 275/70R18, so these are a bit larger than the original tires). I read somewhere in the forum that it's hard to find good tires for 18" rims. Is there a recommended size I should get?
I bought the truck to tow a fifth wheel, but most of the time I'm just driving city streets and not towing anything. I rarely take the truck off road; the 4x4 is more because it snows here.

Yeah i just randomly post in threads without reading the posts too lol.
Only 22.5 that would work would be super singles and they wouldnt clear and would look ugly
The 22.5 are ok on a mall crawler or pull rig put will perform horrible off road, not to mention tires are expensive as hell as are alcoa rims

My tires I just install had a DOT date for dec 2016 so I should be good for 5yrs @ 25k 250 k or so. My brother in law had 295k on a 295/70 semi rig tires before he replaced them. With wear pattern ect. I dont know were I will be with wear, ride ect. but with re-grooving and re shaving It should be the last set of tires i buy for this truck

Follow up: I wasn't ready to spend $350 per tire on the Grapplers in addition to new rims. There's also a lot I don't know about load ranges and offsets, so I need some more time to figure that out. I wasn't able to find a replacement rim on craigslist or ebay, but I did find something else: a set of 4 rims with BF Goodrich All Terrains! I am amazed at how quiet these are compared to my old tires. The truck also handles much better than it did. These have a pretty good amount of tread left, so I can take my time shopping for new tires.
These are LT275/70R18 and load range E. They are very close to the same height as my old tires, just not as wide.
The rims are in good shape, but look a lot different than what I had.
Since these aren't as wide, they also don't stick out as far.
