Not sure what torque wrench you are looking at but most are adjustable in a specific range. I have not seen one that only has 25 lb increments. You need something like this:
I have a 2016 Ford F-350 6.7 L Powerstroke Super Duty platinum edition. I pull a 43 foot fifth wheel. I just had my brakes looked at and the service guy took all the wheels off to check them all. They were fine but I asked the guy what he torqued my lugs at and he said 120ft-lbs. it didn’t seem right to me so I did research and found out it’s support be 165ft-lbs. I have a torque wrench that goes up to 150 ft-lbs. When I researched a new torque wrench that would do 165ft-lbs I couldn’t find one that would do exactly that amount. I found a couple that went up to 260ft lbs but they go in increments of 25 so it goes from 150 to 175. How do I get to exactly 165 ft-lbs?
I have never seen one that goes in increments of 25 ft lbs, who would want that. Do you have a link or brand and model#? There are plenty of options in a torque wrench that adjust in 1 ft lb increments.
Edit- I purchased the same CDI torque wrench a few months ago that SARDiverDan has pictured above.
Stalwart, we're on a Super Duty forum talking about tightening the wheels of a Super Duty pickup. They don't weigh 600lbs.
I noted some applications need more precision. But a Super Duty pickup is totally appropriate to tighten using the factory supplied wrench by hand until it is appropriately tight. The wheels aren't going to come off and nobody is going to die.
my dad had his tires worked on at a reputable tire place was going down interstate lost passenger side duals pulling a 40 ft flatbed it pretty much ripped bed off truck and they only found 1 tire had that been driver side and it crossed the median yea coulda killed someone the studs all sheared
