I just purchesed a 1984 F150. The truck had been converted from an automatic to a standard transmission. It had a C6 automatic but now has a 4 speed overdrive transmission and a 351 engine.
after driving it a few blocks I was stopped at a light and was trying to adjust the seat position I pulled on the steering wheel
for leverage and it came down into my lap. It still worked so i drove it home like that. But i cant seem to get it to go back up.
Anyone know what i need to do to get it back in position. ??
have you tried pushing the turn signal lever towards the speedometer? that should free up the wheel when its held down. let go and the wheel should lock in place.
Thanks this worked fine. I have another 1984 F150 and owned it since 1986 and my steering wheel never tilted so i dident know about this feature. Thanks for the help. You just don't know what you don't know.
mine does as well, as far as i can tell, mine is a result of people using it to pull themselves into the truck. i've managed to find the limit of pressure i can put on it without making it fall, and i dont generally have a problem anymore. makes for good entertainment when someone else drives my truck though.
