Side Tool Box Door Seal on DC

Evening FTEers,

Been out of the loop for a bit. Life always gets in the way of the build. Anyway quick question for anyone that may know.

Dennis Carpenter has a door seal that may work for my 66 side tool box (long box) only thing is on their description it says for 73-79.

Here is the link: Tool Box Door Seal Replacement | Dennis Carpenter Ford Restoration Parts

I wondering by the part number that they have if it will work for my 66 long box?

I called them since there wasn't much description. DC stated that the weatherstripping is about 73" long and in the same bulb shape design as the original. The part number that they provide looks similar to one that I can see on some of the original parts manual graphics but can't truly confirm.

DC Part #D3TZ-99461A00-A

Anyone have any possible insight?

Thanks as usual for all of the help.

Cheers,

Lax

1964/66 is different.

I called them since there wasn't much description. DC stated that the weatherstripping is about 73" long and in the same bulb shape design as the original. The part number that they provide looks similar to one that I can see on some of the original parts manual graphics but can't truly confirm.

DC Part #D3TZ-99461A00-A Wrong part number!
Carpenter strikes again, listed the wrong Ford part number for the tool storage compartment door weatherstrip.

D3TZ-99461A00-A .. Tool Storage Compartment Door LATCH Seal.

1973/79 F100/350.
----------------------
This is correct:

C7TZ-9946102-A .. Tool Storage Compartment DOOR Weatherstrip.

1967/79 F100/350.
----------------------
C4TZ-9946102-A .. Tool Storage Compartment Door Weatherstrip - 73" long (for 8' bed). Cut to 49 11/16" for 6 1/2" bed / Obsolete

1964/66 F100/250 2WD; 1966 F100 4WD

I'm in the same boat as you, for the weather stripping. Let us know if you find something that will work.

Guys,
There was a tread on this subject a few years back.
https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...tallation.html
Great pictures in this thread on the product from B-D company, Denver, and install directions.

I went down to B-D Company in Denver in 2014 and got the materials for my tool box.

They didn't have the material for the seal around the door at the time so they ordered it and sent it to me. So I had to pay shipping.
I bought the fender welt for the surface between the tool box and the bed.
10 feet part number AUV-875
The material for the door seal 12 feet. (Looks like it comes in a 24' roll and I could buy half a roll.) Part number STA/75001830

It all came to $96 including $12 shipping and tax for both parts.

So, if you call them you might see what they can do for you. Not cheap but came out nice. Doesn't leak. Pictures of my box below.

Good luck,

Call me crazy, but I didn't use anything like that. I went to my local OSH and picked through weatherstripping until I found something appropriate. It cost me ~$10 for the roll and it seals tight as a drum.

Well, to be honest, I pulled the lock and took it to a locksmith to have the keys made It's a good place for an extra fire extinguisher, road flares, emergency water and a few other odds and ends that don't cost that much, but why make them easy to steal

Someone pulled the lock from my truck and took it to a locksmith. They just forgot to put the lock back in. Haha.

I bought an NOS tool compartment that came with all the goodies and then I used a part number off the bag of goodies to find another. Must be more out in the wild.

Do you have a part number for the tool box hardware kit? I have everything, but my latch is broken and I'd like to get a new or used one.
Thanks!

Great sources for the Tool Storage Seal, been putting it off and bout time I get too it.

Fellow FTE member dropped-by and noticed he had repaired the gasket on his tool storage compartment, mentioned he purchase a seal that he found as a suitable replacement thru Ebay: 10ft All Weather Auto Truck Rubber Seal Strip Trim Door Edge Moulding Decorate | eBay.

I did not pay much attention at the time, intend doing so with his next visit.

Not sure about the DC gasket; hard to determine, purchase numerous items from them in the past and find their item description suck!!

IMO, the link to Broomfieldbum post looks good and possible source and relatively inexpensive?
