64-66 F100 styleside tool box

Hello everyone first of all I would like to apologize if I seem a bit lost. I'm a new member so I'm still learning my way around. I have been a long time reader as I have been restoring a 66 F100 short bed I picked up about a year ago. I have learned so much from everyone on this forum and would like to thank you guys for all the help eventhow I was not a member. Ok back to my question, I know that these tool boxes are hard to come by but would anyone be able to lead me in the right direction to where I can find one??? I'm actually just missing the door and hinge and once again it's for a 66 F100 short bed.
Thanks

Welcome
Wow, short bed box. Rare one. How much gold did you say you have...?
Might take some time but keep at it, one might surface.

Right item but I think wrong size. That is what Ford called the F250 box (ya, I know). OP is asking for shortbox which was only F100. Yours looks like for long wheel base.

You can tell the difference if you count the number of holes in the top or bottom flange. If there are 5 holes that is a LWB box and if only 3 holes then it is a SWB box (F100). You know, if you couldn't tell otherwise...

No, not available with wrong bed from the factory. Only 4x4 that could get one was 1966 F100 4x4 which used the newer styleside bed (SWB and LWB). I have seen a SWB toolbox in the wrong bed that someone added. The LWB box is simply too long for the front slab side of the 8' wrong bed. You'd have to cut into the wheelwell. But the SWB box didn't fit quite right, either. It kicked out more along the bottom edge so it looked sort of exposed there.

More information is available here. You can see I have the templates for both sizes of tool compartments. Plus 2 complete NOS kits that have all the hardware to mount the boxes (either size box, you just use less screws along the flange with the SWB and cut the seals shorter), plus a brand new latch and keys. And the install instructions. One of these kits came with the NOS tool compartment and once I had the part number for the kit then I found the second for $35 plus shipping from one of the vendors. Insane find. I'm still a bit in shock.

No gold here my friend lol! When bought my truck it already had the tool box in the bed minus the tool box door. I was originally going to eliminate it all together but as the year has pass It started to grow on me if that makes any sense. By the way 66ordie thanks but I believe that's the wrong size as well. Well guys if anyone happens to across one please let me know I will keep looking.

Greetings.

I have wound new springs for other people (and myself) for a variety of different things.

Are you talking about this spring? When you release the handle this pushes the latch pin back in to the striker. I could try to wind one of these and see how it comes out. Usually not a problem. I have a good example here to go by. Just let me know and I will carve out some time to try to reproduce one.

Both of these lock assemblies came in the kits. I wonder how many more of these kits are out there? Interesting about an F100 being a 99A and an F250 being a 99B. The difference in the size of these templates gives some idea of the difference in sizes of the two boxes (SWB versus LWB).

Interesting about an F100 being a 99A and an F250 being a 99B.

There's no sales brochure, shop manual or parts catalog reference for 99A or 99B, as in reality, there's no such thing.

99 is the body style for a Styleside pickup bed, could be 6 1/2' or 8' or 9' (F350 only), but there no suffix associated with 99.

66A & 81A are Standard Cabs, 66B & 81B are Custom Cabs, 81B could also be 1965/66 F100/250 Rangers.

Are my pictures not showing up? Those are Ford templates. Someone there seems to have been calling them that. You can delete the repeated pictures if you want to. You missed two of them anyway because you are replying too fast. Lol.
