My family built a cabin one summer and you could have filled 30 minutes of arguing every day! I'm sure most of the boring stuff hits the cutting room floor, but if their family is full of hard heads like mine, they wouldn't have to make up any of the drama...it would be hard to find scenes without the yelling though.
I work with a father and two sons. I watch that show and just laugh. I can relate all of their arguments to arguments I've overheard here. The cursing gets so bad I'm surprised the paint does'nt peel.
I love the show. Both my teenaged sons love the show and the wife even likes it. (Rumor has it, there might be 3 OCC caps under our tree this Xmas....YES!!)
We actually try to convert others to the show as well. Yah, we're hooked!
I enjoy the show too; I hate to say it, but I can see the dad's point. Pauly only works on his own projects. And as cool as they are, they aren't practical. And most of them don't sell. For example, they were on Leno last week with the Fire Bike and another (Comanche?). Those were made a year ago and they are still around? Pauly only makes show bikes. If they don't sell, he's only taking resources away from the "regular" bikes that DO sell.
How does Ford and all of the other auto makers get buyers revved up? Easy, they make off the wall, amazing show cars. Paul Jr.s bikes are just that. To get recognized, you need products that stand out. Do you think those bikes are made for free? No way. Would you make a show for free?
