Considering their bikes sell for up to $150,000, I can certainly understand Paul Sr.'s frustration when the bike fell off the stand for the second time!!
Originally posted by borderman That's a great show. I don't know how that guy puts put with his dad though. Any of you have or had a dad like that?
My dad was a boss. Classic type-A personality. The guy on TV is a *****cat compared to my dad. It wasn't until his funeral I learned the nickname his employees had for him: The Whip.
When I got to basic training it was almost fun. The drill sergeants had nothing on my dad.
He was a great guy though. His funeral was well-attended. He was the only father I would have wanted.
I love the show, my wafe says she thinks paul sr. is a big P...., she say she thinks she can take'em! hes always bitchin at pauly, but you never see him do anything but bitch, although paul sr. built the bussiness, i think he's jelous of pauly cuz pauly is a better desighner than his dad! DW
I don't think I could stand a father like that. My Dad is the strong silent type. I am 33 years old and he still hugs and kisses me when I go see him. How many fathers do that to their grownup sons?

As long as he dont kiss you on the lips....! JUST KIDDING Thats actually good to hear you have a good relation ship like that with your father, i dont have a problem at all standing my ground or for what i belive in, but for the most part i think men in general get caught up in all this macho Bull S...,! and a scared to let people know how they realy feel!
P.S. I told my 17 yr old, that it didnt make him weak or less a man to cry, as long as he kicked the crap out of the one's who laughed at him! DW
i love the show. after the OCC marathon tonight they are having a new show- a competition for custom bike builders. looks like it might be cool. also they have a new show starting, same concept as american chopper, but with hot rods instead of bikes.. i cant wait
by the way my father is every bit as frustrating to work with as paul senior...he gets all worked up over nothing. but my dads a great guy, he just had a rough upbringing.

I'm not sure there's much to believe. It's a family owned business where two sons work for their father. They argue about silly things but in the end it's obvious they are a close family. It seems excessive, but if they condensed 3 to 4 weeks of real time into 1 hour, I'm not sure most families wouldn't be able to relate!! I'm sure they ham it up a little for the camera, but I enjoy the process of bike building and seeing "real" people interact. Great show!!
me and my dad restored an old jeep and we had many times just like that show, argueing over stupid stuff, but in the end we still get along and learned to disagree about things but not get worked up about it.
Hollywood. Soap. Opera. Critical problem right on time, every show? I like seeing a shop full of snap-on, but it's hard to believe that those big rugged bikers would stand around and argue like a bunch of women
I like the show in a way... But I'm used to that sort of stuff...
Been around it for a while... Even tho im not a biker myself.
But it is a pretty good show.
and I would be PO'd if the bike fell off also

You have to keep in mind, though, that they're condensing probably 6-8 months of work into 30 minutes. So sure, they argue a whole lot, but if you spread the 30 minutes out over the course of 6 months, it's not that bad. Just like on COPS - do you think every single night they catch a buck naked guy holding a busload of nuns hostage at a bank heist? Or that they get into a huge shootout every day and have to call in the SWAT team? Probably not (although there are some areas that I'd think differently...) Once again, 6-8 months condensed into 30-60 minutes. I'd bet that over 70% of the footage shot by the COPS cameramen is boring old traffic stops, which are edited out for the sake of good viewing.
Not that I'm slamming Police Officers - I respect them for what they do, which is essentially to deal with unsavory characters and situations that normal citizens can't or won't deal with.
