Hello, I recently found a pair of mirrors at a swap meet, and I haven't come across any like them before. I bought them to see if they would fit on my '65, and they are too tall. I then tried them on my buddies '79, and they are too tall for the window as well. They measure about 22" across the mounting points. The mirrors are stamped "Ford."
They have some unique wind deflectors in front of the mirrors, and what look to be vibration dampeners.
I'm guessing they are for some sort of heavy duty truck?
I only ask, as since they don't fit on my '65 I am probably looking to sell them. Or, I would be very willing to trade for a set of mirrors for a '65 that aren't the little repop spotter mirrors. (Apologies in advance if this is not the correct area to mention a sale/trade).
A similar set of mirrors popped up on FTE somewhere. It was determined that they are off of a 68-74 Econoline van and the back piece is for deflecting air
A similar set of mirrors popped up on FTE somewhere. was determined that they are off a 1968/74 Econoline.
I installed a set of these mirrors on my 1965 F100, they fit perfectly.
C6TZ-17696-A .. Western Junior Swing-Lok Mirror / Obsolete
The 6" x 10" mirror head with the 3 embossed lines was introduced in 1967, used thru 1979 on this and the Camper Special mirror with the 3rd 'steady rest' arm.
Thanks for the information NumberDummy. I will go try these again, from my rough measurement it looked like I would have to shorten the vertical support to fit the door.
If these are on your truck, I bet they look pretty neat with the wind deflector! I've never seen that part on truck mirrors before, I guess because they are van mirrors.
I think the van mirrors are a little bit bigger than the truck mirrors. The top mount to the cab is different on the van mirrors as well. I have these mirrors available if you are interested in them. , Doug.
