Could it be the exhaust manifold gasket? My 2004 F150 way back in the day did have the cam phaser tick fixed, then many years later i had what was noticeable going near a building etc....that was the exhaust manifold gasket....been quiet for years. Just a thought
Just posted the vid. Luckily in my example we have two brand new SD's purchased only 1 day apart, both sitting in my drive way idling, same temp, fuel, his engine ticks mine doesn't.
Coolidge54, that's the exact same noise that my 2014 made. On mine, it was most noticeable at the drivers side front wheel well.
Does his go away at about 1400-1500 rpm?
There are people complaining about these trucks being so quiet that people get out of them and walk away while the engine is running. I guess you won't have that problem.
Have you thought about trying a bottle of XL-17 just to see if that would stop your ticking?
A buddy of mine had the ticking in his 2011 6.7. He changed out to LE Engine Oil and he just text me saying that after 30 miles of driving with the new oil, his ticking is gone.
This is definitely the same typewriter noise mine makes with fresh oil. It does go away on mine after 1-2k miles... I'm hunting the xl 17 (which is apparently discontinued) as its worth the $30 to shut this thing up.
Let'em tick boys.
The only reason you could not hear this before is that the engines were so noisy. Some tick and some do not. The engines that do last as long as those that don't.
My 2015 ticked a bit after the 1st oil change and has been good since.
Or maybe I don't notice it anymore.
I can't lol. I can hear this thing from across the jobsite. Just about everyone is like, what's wrong with your truck? I need a fix, even if it is a snake oil additive! xl 17 can't be found so... Maybe Lucas makes something

The XL-17 didn't stop the tick for me on my 2012. It magically vanished at around 45-50k miles.
I feel like this thread needs a revival. 5200 miles when I left Denver towing my Voltage 3950 to Portland, Oregon. After 3/4 of the first day I notice the ticking start. Truck has never had it before. Gets worse. 2nd day the tick is still there. Lower RPM, lower speeds and heavy throttle much like everyone else. I can feel it in the throttle pedal and the steering wheel. Very loud and very annoying. My 4th Powerstroke in 5 years. I am headed to the dealer when/if I get back. It is loud enough to make me wonder if things are coming apart. Very much the typewriter noise. I am not going to tolerate a truck that does this. My other three have not.
