Since I first bought my truck (actually before I even took possession ) I've been reading here about leveling kits and my head still hurts from all the different opinions. A common method is the small spring pack. But that seems to me to be very similar to a block which is a huge no for the front. Lift springs seem the better method but all of my searching brought up more questions. Most list the kits for a 250 and 350. How can this be if the 350 automatically sits 2" higher in the rear? I've also seen guys recommend the X springs which should be about 2" lift. Again, even with those springs you'd still need more to level a 350, right?
Here is what I would like to do to my 2001 Super Cab F250; put stock 350 blocks in the rear for a small lift and level the front accordingly. If I do put these blocks in the rear exactly what is needed to properly and safely raise the front so my truck sits level?
The major difference between a block and the mini spring packs that you are seeing for leveling kits is the fact that the mini spring kits have a longer centering pin that bolts all the way through the spring pack, including the two original leaves. The reason that a block is a no-go for the front is because they tend to get spit out if the u-bolts stretch at all under the braking and turning loads seen on the front axle. The mini spring packs eliminate that possibility by including the centering pin that replaces the stock centering pin, which means you are effectively building a taller front spring pack at home rather than buying one that has a higher arch and/or additional leaves. As far as how much lift you will need in the front to match the taller F-350 blocks in the back, that is likely something you will just have to measure.
Because the lift is mainly lifting the front of the truck and leveling the rear with the front. Only difference between the two trucks is a taller block in the rear.
so basically, if I want to keep the rake I have now, and lift 2-2 1/2 inches, all I need do is a mini pack in the front, and f350 blocks and u bolts in the rear?
I think a truck should sit level loaded, so I don't wanna lose my rake, but its just a tad wimpy looking stock.
Since the front of my truck sits about 2.5" lower now, with a 4" block that would make it 4.5". A 4.5" leveling spring pack just seems a bit sketchy. If the X springs are in fact 2" taller I would feel more comfortable just going with X springs and a 2.5" pack or, better yet, new springs that were 4.5" taller. I guess I can just buy 4.5" taller springs for a lift kit? So then that opens up the whole trac bar debate. At that point I guess adjustable would be the best?
I would recommend a kit like this with full replacement springs http://www.procompusa.com/suspension...t=3533&pl=1808 I'm not a fan of the little mini packs either what people end up doing is like you said on a 250 they will do the front leveling kit and 350 or 4" blocks if you just do the leveling kit you will end up with the bro lean which looks like crap. Instead of what the do with the trac bar I would either find a drop bracket someone makes one for a 2 " kit and use the factory trac bar or get an adjustable one. Unless your springs are totally worn out your not getting 2" from x codes and if you used the 4 inch springs and didn't do anything in the back but leave the 4 inch block you age now it won't sit level and you have the bro lean with that too. As for the trac bar best thing would be a drop bracket.
Again, that shows the same kit, K4012 for a 250 AND 350 I could see using them to raise the front of my truck 2" for a level stance. But if I use the 350 4" blocks I'm right back where I started. This is why my head hurts.

No your way over thinking this a 2 inch front leveling kit with a 4 in rear block will sit level this is a very common setup and 2" leveling kit with the stock 2" f250 block will give you the butt dragging stance or bro lean as I like to call it. That's why everyone goes to the 4" block with the leveling kit.
most if not all of the rancho and bistein shocks are for 0-2.5" of lift but if you haven't upgraded your shocks yet this would be the time since your there. I'll try to find that trac bar bracket for a 2" kit that I saw a few weeks ago and post it if I do if not you may just have to go with the zone adjustable trac bar or use the thing in the procomp kit. Here's a thread about leveling kits and picture of miles'old truck after he leveled it some people need to do something with the trac bar others don't and some need too but don't and just leave it shifted but I wouldn't or recommend leaving it of center. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...n-bracket.html
