Adjustable track bar/relocation bracket??
Hey everyone, hope you are having a great christmas. Just curious with this icon 2" leveling kit, will i need a new adjustable track bar or relocation bracket?? its only a light 5.4L with 54,000 miles on the springs so they are still arched, so the 2" might lift the front alot. Two of my friends have installed the 2" leveling kit on an 02 and 03, but both diesels, and neither of them needed the adjustable bar or bracket. should i be good or ???

Here is my opinion, for what it's worth. I put the same lift on my '00 V10 about 3 weeks ago. I attempted it twice without an adjustable tack bar, and in my opinion it put way too much lateral bind on the front end. I struggled to even get things to go together with the track bar still attached during installation, and my thought was that if I dropped the track bar, I might be able to easily get the 2" kit installed, but I will probably then be cussing trying to get the track bar re-installed. So, I ordered the ajustable track bar from Zone. Dropped the old bar out, installed the 2" kit in about an hour, and then installed the new track bar. This allowed me to center the axle very easily without putting the front end in a bind.

The one from Zone is only $100. Many people have done the kits without adjustable track bars and have had no issues. I tried twice to kit mine in and failed. The first time, I could not seem to get the axle to drop low enough to get the new springs and centering bolt in, so I put it back together. The second time, I loosened the driver side ubolts down to the last few threads, hoping that it would give me much more freedom in moving the axle around to get the new springs in. It gave me plenty of room for that, however I never could get the axle to line back up with the centering pin. I tried jacking in all different locations with 3 different jacks, ratchet straps, pry bars, etc, and I just couldn't do it. I bailed again and put it back together. The axle naturally sung toward the driver side (because of the track bar) by about 3/4". I bought the adjustable track bar, and the third try was successful in a complete installation in under an hour.
Again, this was just my experience. Others have popped the 2" kits in without having to mess with the track bar.

Hello,
Dont be in a hurry. If you have to save up for the track bar, save up for it. In the long run it will work out better and have less of unwanted stress. Your truck will stay in alignment, lessen the chance of the death wobble, less wear and tear on joints and tires.
For amount of money you would spent on all that stuff. Its cheaper to get the track bar and do it right the first time. Just my opinion.
