Compatible Bed

I have a 2004 F-250 4 door short bed truck. One of the rear tires disintegrated on the highway and made a mess of the bed side front and back of the wheel. I thought the easiest way to repair would be replace the bed. Found one on the internet at a local junk yard off of a 2004 F-150. The counter man at the yard told me an F-150 bed would not fit on an F-250. I was surprised to hear that. Can anyone verify that?

He is correct the F150 is different. F250 and F350 are the same. 1999-2016 physically fit but I think a cosmetic bodyline change was made at some time.

The Super Duty has a wider cab than F150, excluding 2017 models which share the same body. The bed front on a Super Duty is wider than F150, but the rear is the same width as the 97-03 F150 body style and they share the same tailgate and tail lights (F150 97-03 & SD 99-07)
