If you compare a f150 6.5' bed to a SD 6.75' bed I assume the extra 3" is ahead of the axle?
The F150 shows a rear overhang of 49" while the 17 SD shows 52" and I need the extra 3" at the front

So... taking the cab-axle data, which doesn't account for the gap between the cab and bed the size of the front wall of the bed, the F-150 has a cab-axle distance of 38.6 inches, the 2017 super duty keeps the standard 40 inches (39.9) (which keeps compatibility with a lot of service beds, kuvs and the like.) So if there's more space in the front of axles in the bed, it's not a whole lot.
