Center Console phone cable exit

Center Console phone cable exit
Just picked up a 17 XLT Sport, so it has the center console.
How are you guys getting the phone cable out of the USB compartment AND leaving the door closed?
There is a 1" wide slot between the shifter and the cup holders that I was going to drill a hole, putting just a slot in the rubber covering as to make it less noticeable.
Anyone have a better idea?
Looks like the F-250 Lariat has the same console and issue.
Thanks

Hard to believe Ford would have 2 different console covers so I'm going to assume I need to add little more detail. First the console in question has the shifter in it and the cover I'm speaking of is right under the radio & 8" screen, says SYNC on it. Thus, the SYNC cover can almost close but it will smash the cable to do so. There is not a slot for the cable on either corner or any other exit spot that I can see. Also I do not have USB ports inside the console area that is under your right elbow. There are 2 on the back of the console, for the rear seat but that's not a good spot to leave plugged in as it could be broken off easily.

I think the OP means the compartment just below the HVAC controls.
If so I an interested in that too.
My assumption was if you are connected to the USB/Radio interface, Ford and all of the big brother safety geeks feel that you wouldn't need access to your device. If properly set up, you shouldn't need to interface your phone while driving.
Which for me, makes me think that Ford did not provide a pass through for phone cables in that compartment.
Now for the main console (you know, the one you could sleep in) the pass-thrus are there in the front bulkhead area.

Are we all talking about the same thing?
