If you have the two small advance springs and weights off, then the reluctor should come off the top of the shaft, leaving just the shaft and limiter base. Maybe spray some WD40 or PB Blaster down in there to soak a bit and loosen it up will help.

Here's a couple pics of the one I am currently working on. In fact I have a thread started on it but have not gotten the shaft bushings and all the parts yet so it hasn't gotten very far Hope this helps
Yeah, I have everything out. I'll try some PB. Obviously there can't be anything else holding it on there except gunk. Thanks for the pics.

Where did you order the shaft bushings?

This is a Duraspark II distributor from a Bullnose 300 I refurbished. It was pretty dirty when I got it.

Steve, how did you get the aluminum to look like that? I cleaned mine and wire wheeled but it shines. I'd rather have the dull appearance.

I have not even gotten around to ordering the bushings yet. I am absolutely not a part number or resource guy hahaha sorry. Jeffafafa provided me with some numbers and resources in another thread one day, and I will have to go back and search my own comments and threads to even find them.

Dan

PS partly because I am still considering having them machined for me, which may or may not be a good idea

Yes correct. BUT...Only because I work in maintenance, in a factory, that has a machine shop with an abundance of different types of materials, with world class toolmakers and my cousin is one of them LOL. I'm spoiled in that aspect. Other than they are cracking down on "government" (personal) work these days and you can't get by with some of the shenannigans we use to. Oh, the stuff we've hauled into work to work on. Helps if you're on an off shift though

Yeah. I used to work in a wood working shop when I was in HS. I could do pretty much anything as long as I paid for materials.
