ID the engine year?

I'm trying to figure out what year engine I have in my 65 truck, I know it's not original as original it would of been a 352, but its a 300-6.

The number on the block is D5TE 6015-AA which I know is 1975 or newer.

The carburetor its D8KE BA which seems to put it in 1975-1985

Looking at the fuel pump and looking at pictures on RockAuto I'm thinking its in the early 1980's

Is there some thing or the combination of parts that will narrow it down?
Thanks.

Look to the right of your block casting number. You will find an alpha-numeric code that is the casting date.

Your carb, being D8xx, would date from 1978 and up.

Everything you are asking will be made clear in this thread. The date code appears in the first picture link in post #4.

The 300 I-6 is from at least a 1975, the D8KE-BA Carter 1V carb is from a 1978 Granada 250 I-6 with A/T & A/C except CA

Nice, just what I wanted to hear, good thing I have been looking for a 352 to put back in the truck. The second number on the block wasn't visible, could maybe make out the oval but too much paint was covering the numbers if they are there.

Here's a sample of the engine ID and date code on my 1966 F250 4x4 with 300 built March 16th, 1966.

C6AE-6015-D

6B25 - February 25th, 1966

And the FoMoCo logo instead of the Ford logo.
