E7TE is simply the casting number, it does not tell you what vehicle it came from. It does tell you it was originally designed for pickups, but could have been installed in any Ford, Mercury, or Lincoln vehicle that had that particular size engine in ( you didn't specify what block it was) It also doesn't tell you when it was cast, only that it was first cast for the 87 Model year. The date code will tell you when it was cast ( number/letter/number combination next to the casting number)
