Now that my engine is all painted, I'm thinking my plug wires need an upgrade. I'm pretty sure mine are a universal set, and as you can see in the picture, they don't fit my engine all that great. Does anyone have a suggestion for an upgrade? Are wire looms available for engines like mine? Thanks.
If you want wires tight, thinking a dyi kit, there is so many aftermarket looms an clips if your just looking to "clean up the droopy wires" Everything else looks so clean. I get it. Some small black zip ties would do the trick too
I don't know. My wires always looked pretty much like they do now. I bet Stu (Truckdog) knows. Maybe he'll post up a picture of his beautifully restored engine.
Though not stock I always thought those rajah clips and cloth covered solid wires looked neat. They would kinda pop, with the battleship gray paint. Like these:
Your engine looks awesome Jim A person has to appreciate the simplicity of a straight 6! Wish I could help you out with your wires, but I'm sure someone will step up!
Tedster9, The cloth covered wire does look cool. How does the thickness of the Rajah wire compare to regular spark plug wire? Have you used wire like this to fire your plugs? Do you have any pictures?
Dave, Your engine is being rebuilt as well I believe. Pretty soon yours will be all painted and beautiful as well. Don't loose track of any pieces along the way!
The Rajah clips are the plug terminals. Nope, haven't used the cloth wire but the custom guys and hot rodders have used the wire for eons, I'm sure they will work for you. Supposedly solid core wire doesn't play well with electronic ignition but even there, many say they've no problems.
