I'll keep tracking the mileage. This morning I was on an open stretch of straight, flat highway, so I set CC at 65mph and reset the instant fuel economy feature on the dash. I was getting between 14.5 and 15mpg. I expected closer to 20mpg at 65mph unloaded on a flat road.
Maybe I'll put the 2015 in the garage to keep it clean for date night, and drive the ole 7.3 to save money on fuel. On 2nd thought, I think I'm addicted to the air-conditioned seats!
We see a mile or better per gallon difference here when the summer blend diesel gets to our area and has not been mixed with the winter blend. All my diesels have gotten better mileage in the warmer months. I guess because they like it 'hot'!
I took a 200 mile mostly flat hwy joy ride unloaded during the breakin on my truck. Speeds varied from 75-80 for the first 100 and 70-75 for the trip back. Fueled up then got on the hwy, when I got back in town trip A was showing 17.0 mpg for that tank of fuel. It was slightly windy and during the month of January. 2016 F250 Crew Cab Short Bed 20" stock wheels and tires with 3.55 axles.
I'm sure that's a bit low since the motor is still tight. Haven't had anything close to that since that day, I always have something hitched to the bumper.
Unloaded - I get between 11.5 - 17.5. Right now my city/hwy mix I am getting 13.5. In the summer it will go up to 14.5 - 15.
If you want to see 20 - long steady driving at around 45 mph. Right when the truck hits 6th gear.
Idling and stop and go traffic kill mileage... Regens over the course of a tank are responsible for around .5 mpg. Just my observations. Some people do better than I do others worse.
Overall I get less MPG than my 6.0, but this tuck spends it's time with me and not the dealer.
I put a app on my phone to track mileage. For the last 15 months I've averaged 18.1. High of 21 and a low of 12.
What scares the hell out of you is how much fuel you have bought in that time.
